About Authors: Saniyasnain Khan
Saniyasnain Khan was born in 1959 in Azamgarh in India. After doing his post-graduation from the University of Delhi, he began assisting his father, the noted Islamic scholar, Maulana Wahiduddin Khan, in his research and publications. In 1996, he founded Goodword Books, which deals mainly with quality books on Islamic subjects. Then, feeling the need to educate the younger generation about the message of Islam as a religion of peace and harmony, he began writing stories for children. His first book, Tell Me About Hajj, brought out in 1999, was very well received in India and abroad. His next publication was Tell Me About the Prophet Muhammad, which has become a best-seller among the Islamic works currently available in English. Apart from the Tell Me About series, he has written several books for young children based on stories from the Quran, which illustrate moral and ethical values. He believes that as parents, it is our duty to instill the love for Islam in our children. The basic theme that runs through his books is to teach moral principles gradually through themes carefully chosen from the Holy Quran and other Islamic sources. In this way, children not only learn the ethical values conveyed by the message of Islam, but also be stimulated to want to know more about Islamic teachings when they grew up. Thus these ideas, as a foundation, will encourage them to seek out at a later stage a broader spectrum of resources with which to increase their knowledge. To date Saniyasnain Khan has written over 100 books for children. Now he plans to bring out the books in Multimedia CD-Roms also, which he hopes may be used by children and grown ups alike
